1) You really should profile some of the up-and-coming high school players who are on-track to being the next great college players.
2) Start a "Getting To Know ..." the players with personal interviews about their personal history and their comments on volleyball. The players you spotlight are not only skilled, they are smart, and they will give you some interesting stories.
3) Include some player stats.
4) Include lots more player pictures.
5) Include some game pictures from key matches across the country.
COBRA Magazine is a great e-magazine, but it is only scratching the surface on coverage of a great sport. COBRA, along with interest in volleyball, has a tremendous potential to grow.
Articles about your former/current all americn selections, etc that go on to play pro. What it's like to find an agent like for instance my company or otherwise, what it's like to expect a deal, sign a deal, live abroad, the challenges, the surprises, etc! :) I emailed you guys with more info since your last cover girl Haley JACOB is one of my players I am represnting. :) -RJO
I would like to see and hear more about the Division I players at Jackson State University, and Middle Tennesee. Division II, Kentucky State, University of Tampa.Hopefully we will hear more in 2013.
I'd like to see more Alexis Mathews from Michigan State. She was part of the United States A2 team for the second year in a row and has just helped Michigan State advance to the sweet 16. She was responsible for the last three points of the match against Defending NCAA Champs UCLA. Ending the match with the WINNING block.
Gwen Rucker middle blocker from the University of Louisville is a dominating force at the net. She has had solid performance in the last several games with phenominal hitting percentages!!
Vs. Marquette University .400
Vs. Belmont University .833
Vs. Cincinnati .765
Vs. St Johns .867 w/ 9 blocks
Vs. Cincinnati .667
She had double digit kills in the matches listed above. Along with several blocks and digs per match. She has overcome illness that benched her during the regular season and resulted in the loss of over 20 pounds. She has since returned and has been a dominating force.
Please check her out and metion her in your next edition. She has obviously worked hard to rebound from the illness and its hard to ignore her performance in the Big East Championship.
I recommend you look up my best friend Janise Dismuke at Univeresity of Illinios at chicago. www.uicflames.com She did big things. broke 2 records this years. Helped get the team to horizon league championship.. first time in 6 years. Show Chicago some love!
Speaking of undersized. Emani Sims redshirt sophmore middle at 5'11 Miami Hurricanes stats stack up well against ACC competition
I would like to see Erika Moss - A Diamond in the rough. She started her freshman year with an injury and still ranked in her conference as a setter her freshman year. She has been the only setter on the team until this year – she has taken her team from last place to 2nd place in the conference in her two years. She was over looked for her height and hidden from many; Tennessee State University found her and has been blessed with her talents.
I don't know what the specifications are, but Minnesota's First team All Big Ten/AA All-American Tori Dixon comes from a Maori background. Quite the player, too. Lots of competition, though, I see!
It would be interesting if you put Ashley Kastl or Emily Hartong in it!
Speaking of undersized hitters...Faimie Kingsley from the Denver University is a 5'9 middle.
I would like to see my niece Desiree Scott NMSU/volleyball
Similar to Lisa, I would like to see interviews/articles on undersized hitters that play in Division I. North Texas' Eboni Godfrey is a 5' 7" outside so not everything is bigger in Texas!
I would like to see undersized hitters that play big in the MEAC
Georgia State's Senior Vineece Verdun and Freshman Andrea Ezell
Thye are both helping to create a legacy at GSU. I will be excited to see where Andrea can take the team after Vineece graduates
i would like to congratulate my neice Jalesty Washington on doing her thing in the Oct 2011 issue representing Methodist College
Article on the importance of being a STUDENT-athlete, reference Falyn Fonoimoana. NO. She isn't the first to fall academically, and won't be the last. But women of color MUST remain competitive in all aspects to continue to succeed in the recruiting opportunities available!
Keao Burdine! I heard she is playing on the national team.
Great site for cobra.
ANY TOP TENNESSEE PLAYERS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE.
I would like to see some international players. More specifically Black players from latin american teams such as the Dominican Republic and Brazil. It can expand the magazines herizons.
I would love to see your magazine include Sophomores, J'Beria Davis (#3) and Erika DeVaughn (#5), from University of South Florida. They are two undersized OH who are out-jumping their 6'2" teammates, and have both put up big (and unexpected) performances over the 2010 season. Check them out in the2010 volleyball highlight video at http://www.gousfbulls.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?catid=10509&id=728799
